Honda Africa Twin CRF1000L Rally revealed

Honda has revealed a new version of its top-selling Africa Twin CRF1000L, the lightweight and Dakar-inspired Honda Africa Twin CRF1000L Rally! It’s based on the Africa Twin Enduro concept first displayed at the Eicma show in Milan, Italy, last year.

The new Rally model was on display at the Moto Days exhibition in Rome, Italy – and understandably the Italian media has gone mad about it. Our friends at report that the new, even more off-road based bike will come as both manual and DCT versions, and retains the ability to carry luggage the same as the original model.

The engine has not been changed, but the Rally features a titanium Termignoni exhaust and a smartphone application that allows owners to choose and download different engine maps and install them in the unit.

From the photos that has shared, we can see that the new model features a high front fender, new  windscreen, skid plate, tail tidy, and carbon fibre elements to keep the weight down. The tyres are proper knobblies, and the bike gets an overall Dakar look and feel.

A Termignoni exhaust is also displayed in the photos, and looks great compared to the standard end can. The seat doesn’t look to accommodate a pillion and there are no pillion foot pegs in sight.

There are also small changes to suspension to make the bike more off-road ready to match the aggressive looks.

The Italian press says that the Honda CRF 1000L Africa Twin Rally is already in dealerships in the HRC Tricolour and Rally Red colours, for a price of 21,490 Euro (£18,745) or 22,640 (£19,748) Euro for the DCT version.

There has been no official word from Honda about whether the Rally will be produced in larger numbers of these are just limited specials, but given how good they look we really hope they will be available in the UK soon.
