VIDEO: Riding Honda’s new MONKEY 125!

MoreBikes has been out to Nice on the south coast of France, for the launch of a range of new small capacity machines from Honda. The main event was the unveiling of its updated Forza 125 and 300 premium scooters – but we also got a quick chance to ride the all-new Monkey 125.

With its chunky tyres, mini-‘ape’ style handlebars, miniscule fuel tank and big, squashy seat, the Monkey is arguably one of the most iconic motorcycles in existence. Its popularity was mainly as a result of its instantly-likable design, tiny dimensions and ultra-light weight – which made it a whole load of fun around town.

Best of all, Honda’s iconic mini-bike has been re-imagined for the present day – with styling that draws heavily on the original, complemented by modern, premium touches such as USD forks, twin rear shocks, LCD instruments, IMU-based ABS and full LED lighting. Its 125cc air-cooled engine delivers 6.9kW power, and fuel efficiency of 67km/litre, while its wet weight is a mere 107kg. Not bad, right?

While out in Nice, we got a very brief chance to ride the all-new Honda Monkey – ahead of its official UK launch (which we’ll be attending tomorrow). Here’s some footage of our man Ross, bobbing around through the city.

There’ll be a full launch report in a future issue of Motorcycle Sport and Leisure – but keep an eye on MoreBikes as we get a proper chance to put the little Monkey through its paces around London tomorrow.
