Alex Barros has still got it – as this video which shows him pipping 22-year-old ex-Moto 2 rider Eric Granado to the finish line, after a dramatic final lap of the Brazilian Superbike Championship round at Interlagos proves.
Barros has had a long illustrious career in motorcycle racing – and has been involved in competition for over 30 years, winning seven 500cc/MotoGP races during his mammoth 17-year stint in the series on Cagiva, Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha and finally Ducati machinery. After a long career in MotoGP, for 2006 he moved to the Superbike World Championship – but returned to MotoGP for 2007, before retiring at the end of the season. Since then he’s filled in across a range of championships across the world, but now he’s back in earnest, and is challenging for Brazilian SBK Championship on a BMW S1000RR.
And Barros is still in top form, taking a dramatic win in Round One of last weekend’s Brazilian Superbike Championship at Interlagos – pipping 22-year-old ex-Moto2 rider Eric Granado to the finish line.
