We’ve just been sent this lovely archive footage, which shows a hill climb event in 1930s America. It’s been posted on the ReelNostalgia YouTube channel, which features an abundance of archive video from across the world – including some truly special clips of the early days of motorcycling.
There’s no commentary or sound – because it was filmed before the proliferation of affordable and portable sound recording equipment. But regardless, it’s a special bit of footage of riders firing their motorcycles up a hillside, somewhere in the USA in the 1930s.
The machines are predominantly American V-twins from Harley-Davidson and Indian – but we clocked a number of British bikes in there too. Basically, if you’ve got 20 minutes to spare – rustle up a brew and grab a couple of biscuits, and enjoy this quiet contemplation of motorcycle racing in 30s America.
