Ducati’s CEO: “Soon – an electric Ducati! We are not far from starting production.”

Oh look, it’s an electric Ducati race bike.

Speaking at an event at the University of Bologna, CEO of Ducati Claudio Domenicali (below) gave the clearest indication yet that we will have an official electric Ducati – and it’ll appear ‘soon’.

Claudio Domenicali has been clear about where he’s heading with the brand. Plug in, people.

Reported first by the Italian site, Corsedimoto.com, the Ducati big boss said: “The future is electric . We are not far from starting production of the series,” as he and others sat on a platform discussing merits of engineering and design with students at the University local to the Ducati brand.

Domenicali and others were talking about the recent electric race bike built by the University of Bologna’s Racing Team as part of an evening at the University.

Domenicali and some of the Bologna University’s Racing Team pose for a promo pic of two with the electric Ducati race bike.

The bike (pictured) made it’s debut on track at Aragon in Spain last October where it won the race and revealed a 0 – 60mph time of 3.85s. The race motorcycle was built using Ducati chassis parts and newly developed lithium power cells.
