Although we’re still more than five months away from the start of the 97th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, manufacturers have started registering its bikes for the 2019 event. And Ducati has surprised us all by appearing to move away from its winning Multistrada, registering itself as ‘Ducati 2019 TBD’ in the Exhibition Powersport category.
The Ducati Multistrada has helped Ducati win multiple Pikes Peak races, and as a result, we’re surprised to hear that the Italian factory might be dropping its tricked up and trimmed back adventure machine. Rumours are swirling about what might replace the ‘Strada – and at the minute everyone’s leaning towards Ducati stripping back a Panigale V4 and creating a new Streetfighter V4.
HERE’S OUR STORY A CUSTOM DUCATI STREETFIGHTER BUILT FROM THE BONES ON A PANIGALE V4.
Of course, the Streetfigher V4 isn’t the only potential race machine in the Ducati stable – but taking into account that only motorcycles without fairing and with high/flat handlebars can be registered in this category, there’s a limited number of options from the stable. What about its new Hypermotard? How about the 2019 Diavel? We’d love to see that tearing up the hill. But for the time being, it looks like we’ll have to sit tight and wait to see what Ducati comes up with for the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
