Royal Enfield has just released its new off-road ready Bullet Trials – based around its hugely successful Bullet.
After dominating the retro classic motorcycle market for decades – Royal Enfield recently stepped out of its comfort zone, unveiling its Himalayan mini-adventurer. And it’s focusing on its off-road output once again, unveiling off-road versions of its iconic Bullet.
Available in both 350cc and 500cc, the new Bullet Trials comes equipped with dual-purpose rubber, raised mudguards, a luggage rack, and an upswept exhaust. However, it’s not getting a complete overhaul from the standard bike, and will come fitted with the engine, suspension and brakes from the Bullet 350 and 500.
Power for the Bullet Trials 350 will be from the same 346cc air-cooled single cylinder as the Bullet 350 – which kicks out 20hp and 28Nm of torque. The larger Bullet Trials 500 shares its 499cc air-cooled single-cylinder motor with the Bullet 500 and makes the same 27hp and 41.3Nm of torque.
Aside from their engines, the Trials bikes also share frames, front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear. For braking, the bikes both make use of 280mm front and 240mm rear disc, with standard dual-channel ABS.
At this stage, that’s about as much as we know. Admittedly, pricing for India has been announced – with the 350 costing Rs 1.53 lakh (which works out around £1676) and the 500 costing Rs 2.01 lakh (which is about £2201) – but chances are, the new bikes will be quite a bit more expensive when they do finally arrive on British shores.
