BMW’s new R18 cruiser motorbike has been caught on camera as it undergoes final testing on the road. And there are TWO of them.
Following on from the spy shots of BMW’s new R18 being shifted around under a tarpaulin last week, two versions of the 1800cc cruiser have been caught on camera out on the open roads. The snaps were captured by Motociclismo.es reader Ángel Sánchez, who’s quick reactions mean we can give you the first proper look at BMW’s new 1800cc cruisers.

Caught on the border between France and Italy, these are the first photo’s which show how the new BMW’s going to look in its finished form when its unveiled at EICMA in a few weeks’ time.
And the big news is that there are two versions. There’s a ‘base’ model and a ‘touring’ model. The ‘touring’ model’s kitted out with a high fairing and side bags – and three headlights, while the ‘base’ model’s stripped back with only a single headlight. The other main difference is the two bike’s exhausts – but there’s a good chance the one on the ‘base’ model is just a prototype version which will be updated on the finished machine.
Either way, we’re not going to have to wait all that much longer to see the two new R18’s from BMW in the flesh – with the big reveal expected for EICMA in just under three weeks’ time. And rumours suggest we might get to see another version of the R18 too; a ‘bagger’. Only time will tell.
