Meet Honda’s all-new ASIMO. This is the stuff of nightmares!

Frankly terrifying in his movements, the All-New Honda ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative MObility) has now advanced from an “automatic machine” to an “autonomous machine” with the decision-making capability to determine its behaviour in concert with its surroundings such as movements of people. Watch the video to see him – I mean it – in action. I dare you to not be a bit creeped out when you see him running…

Honda’s research into humanoid robots began in 1986 and All-New ASIMO is the latest generation of this scientific endeavour to create a robot that is one day so advanced that it can really help people in their daily lives. All-New ASIMO is widely regarded as the most advanced humanoid robot in the world.

Honda Asimo History 001

Honda Robotics is the collective name for technologies and products created through Honda’s research and development of humanoid robots. These include Honda’s walking assist device, a stride management system that helps people with weakened leg muscles to walk; the body weight support assist system, which reduces the load on legs by supporting part of the body weight; and the UNI-CUB ß, a new form of personal mobility that features Honda’s original omni-directional drive wheel system.

Now if Honda can get him to ride a Fireblade around the TT course, maybe it’ll be a bit easier to accept him as a biking buddy…
