We’ve been sent a spy shot of Yamaha’s new XT125 dual sport machine, which has been caught testing out in India.

Yamaha’s inimitable XT125 isn’t currently being produced for the British market, with the last one going on sale in 2012 – but looking at this spy shot of the Japanese factories latest creation, maybe we’ll be seeing one again in the not too distant future.

Of course, there’s a good chance that it could be exclusively for the Indian market – which has continued to swell over the last few years, with growing interest and activity from European and Japanese manufacturers looking to flog their wares.

Of course, as we reported earlier this year (in relation to its MT-15) Yamaha India has confirmed that it’s planning to launch new motorcycles into the market – and they won’t just be focusing on the entry level commuter segment either. Yamaha’s also looking to cement its place in the premium segment. In the first phase, it announced its plan is to launch Indian produced 125-300 cc motorcycles. And it looks like the Japanese factory is well on its way.

At this stage, we don’t know as huge amount about the new XT 125 – but making a few assumptions we can work out the A1 licence dual sport machine will be powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC, 4-stroke, 124cc engine, with a 5 speed gearbox, and a 11 litre fuel tank. For braking, it has a front disc brake, and rear drum brake – and there’s single channel ABS is on offer as well. It also comes with a spoked 21 inch front wheel and a spoked 18 inch rear – clad in off-road ready knobby rubber.
