Voltu’s just revealed its newest electric motorcycle – and it’s based on its Moto X prototype from a few years ago.

Voltu’s naked ELECTRIC motorcycle: the Rod 1. 250Nm. 150hp. 155mph.

Presented at the International Motorcycle Exhibition in Munich, the Rod 1 naked has been created by Voltu and DB-Matik – and from the sounds of things, it’ll be a seriously capable bit of kit when it’s released at the end of the year.

Its electric motor will kick out a claimed 150hp, 250Nm of torque and a top speed of over 250km/h (155mph) – from its 20kW water-cooled battery. That’s impressive.  And the big numbers don’t stop there. It’s claimed to be capable of returning as many as 400 kilometers (250 miles) in city traffic and up to 250 kilometers (150) on country roads all from a single charge. It comes with a quick charger too – which will charge the battery to 50 percent in 15 minutes. 30 minutes of fast charging will top the battery up to 85 percent. Interestingly, if the Rod 1 isn’t being ridden – it can also be used as a stationary battery pack. Clever.

It gets a unique steel trellis frame and swingarm, which is kitted out with a single shocker for rear suspension. Up front there’s a pair of USD forks, Brembo four-piston calipers and twin discs. Sitting on the wide handlebars is a TFT display. Not bad.

At this stage, that’s about all we know about the Rod 1 electric naked from Voltu and DB-Matik – but with its release scheduled for the end of 2020, chances are we won’t have to wait too much longer for the full inside scoop, including the price.
