Welcome to this special episode of the MoreBikes Podcast. Today we would like to present to you an exclusive interview with the most successful sidecar racer of all time, Steve Webster.

Born in Easingwold, North Yorkshire, Webster’s career began aged 19 back in 1980 at his local circuit, Elvington near York. He went on to achieve a very successful career, winning the FIM Sidecar Championship a record-breaking ten times.

Webster notched up an unprecedented 31 consecutive pole positions in World Championship races and clinched 62 World Championship wins.

Webster retired in 2005, bringing an end to an illustrious 25-year career which saw him rise from a 19-year-old club competitor to the most successful sidecar racer in the history of the FIM World Championship

Webster has also gained numerous awards and recognitions during his time. He was the recipient of the Seagrave Trophy in 1991 and in the same year he was awarded an MBE for ‘services to sport’.

The following was an exclusive interview which took place at the Carole Nash Motorcycle Mechanics Show at the Stafford County Showground. Resident compere and racing star, Steve Plater, conducted the interview.
