APRILIA RSV4 X-GP: MotoGP tech. in a limited-edition package

Aprilia has marked 10 years since its RS-GP first lined up on the MotoGP grid in spectacular fashion. Rather than producing a special paint scheme, the Italian manufacturer has unveiled the RSV4 X-GP – a track-only machine producing 238bhp and bristling with technology taken directly from its racing prototype. Just 30 examples will be built, each priced at €90,000 plus VAT.

The X-GP was revealed during the Catalan GP and sits within Aprilia’s exclusive ‘X’ series. The name not only nods to the Roman numeral for ten, but also signals an uncompromising level of engineering.

The most striking feature is the aerodynamics. Where most superbikes get small winglets, the RSV4 X-GP has a full set of devices: leg wings, tail wings, cornering wings, and even an under wing. All are patented designs taken from the current RS-GP25. Built in carbon fibre by PAN Compositi, the fairings and aero parts don’t just look like MotoGP kit – they are MotoGP kit. Aprilia claims the ground-effect design generates triple the cornering downforce of a standard superbike and vastly increases stability on the straights.

The bodywork also incorporates a carbon structural seat unit that doubles as a subframe, reducing weight and sharpening rear-tyre feel.

Power comes from an enlarged version of Aprilia’s 65° V4 engine, now 1099cc. Tuned by the racing department, it makes 238hp at 13,750rpm and 131Nm of torque. It revs to 14,100rpm, uses a Sprint racing filter, and breathes through a titanium SC Project exhaust. A dry STM clutch adds to its racing credentials.

Electronics are managed by Aprilia’s APX ECU, the same system used in WorldSBK. Riders can adjust traction control, wheelie control, engine braking and mapping on a per-gear basis. GPS and data logging are included, and each bike comes with a laptop preloaded with the factory software.

Chassis parts are equally high spec: Öhlins mechanical suspension with a pressurised fork, Brembo GP4-MS calipers with 330mm discs and Z04 pads, forged magnesium Marchesini wheels, and Pirelli WSBK slick tyres. A long list of race-spec details includes billet parts, oversized radiators, titanium sprockets, and CNC-machined top yokes.

Every RSV4 X-GP is individually numbered and delivered with paddock stands, tyre warmers, a cover, a mat, and an NFT certificate of authenticity.

This is not a machine aimed at the road or even for value-conscious riders – it is Aprilia showing what can be achieved when MotoGP technology is brought into a customer bike. For the 30 owners, it is about as close to a factory racer as money can buy.
