Triumph’s new limited-run special aims to taps straight into the spirit of the ton-up era, with the reveal of the Triumph Speed Twin 1200 Cafe Racer Edition.
Built as a tribute to the original British café racers of the 1960s, the new model will be limited to just 800 bikes worldwide, each supplied with its own Certificate of Authenticity to underline its exclusivity.
The starting point is the already impressive Triumph Speed Twin 1200 RS, but Triumph has reworked the recipe to create something far more focused and visually striking. The biggest change comes from the adoption of clip-on handlebars, which shift the riding position forward into a more aggressive stance, while the rear of the bike is cleaned up with a distinctive brown bullet seat and removable seat cowl. Pillion footpegs are deleted as standard to maintain the classic single-seat café racer look, although they are supplied with the bike should owners wish to reinstate two-up capability later.

The styling is where the Café Racer Edition really stands apart. Triumph has finished the bike in an eye-catching Competition Green and Aluminium Silver colour scheme inspired by traditional British racing colours. The tank’s metallic silver base is split by green panels, with a delicate Empire Gold coachline running between the two to give the finish a handcrafted feel. Matching green side panels feature a bold Number 12 graphic, while the headlight bowl and fork protectors are also finished in Competition Green. Brushed aluminium mudguards and silver wheels complete the look, giving the bike a clean but purposeful appearance that feels both modern and unmistakably retro.

Details throughout reinforce that classic café racer aesthetic. Machined bar-end mirrors, ribbed clutch and alternator cover badges, black head bolt covers and sculpted knee pads add subtle touches that lift the overall finish, while the compact rear profile and minimalist bodywork keep the silhouette sleek and athletic. It’s a bike that looks every bit as if it could have rolled straight out of the parking area of London’s legendary Ace Cafe, albeit with a far more modern level of engineering underneath.
Power comes from Triumph’s high-compression Bonneville 1200 twin, producing 104bhp at 7,750rpm and a healthy 112Nm of torque. The engine’s signature 270-degree firing order gives it that distinctive twin-cylinder pulse, while a low-inertia crankshaft ensures quick throttle response and strong drive across the rev range, right up to its 8,000rpm limit.

Chassis hardware mirrors the RS model’s top-shelf specification, with fully adjustable Marzocchi forks paired with Öhlins twin rear shocks to deliver sharp, controlled handling. Braking comes courtesy of Brembo Stylema calipers gripping 320mm discs, while sticky Metzeler Racetec RR K3 tyres are fitted as standard to maximise grip and feedback.
Despite the old-school looks, the technology package is thoroughly modern. Riders can tailor the bike’s behaviour through Road, Rain and Sport riding modes, while cornering ABS and traction control operate discreetly in the background to support confident riding. Triumph’s Shift Assist quickshifter is also fitted, and the bike retains the Speed Twin’s clever dash layout… a traditional circular dial housing a mix of LCD and TFT displays that provide smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and a discreetly integrated USB-C charging socket.
The Speed Twin 1200 Café Racer Edition is available now, priced at £15,995 OTR, with customers able to secure one through Triumph’s new Reserve My Triumph online reservation system.
