Triumph has given its Tiger 1200 a serious going-over for 2027, with more power, sharper road manners, a lower seat and enough radar technology to make your average executive saloon feel under-equipped.

The updated adventure flagship retains its 1200cc T-plane triple, but output climbs by 8PS to 158PS at 9,250rpm, with more torque available lower down the rev range. Revised engine internals, fuel injection and exhaust are designed to improve efficiency and response, while changes to the gearbox and shaft drive promise smoother shifts and less clonk when swapping between drive and deceleration. Revised gearing also reduces crawling speed by 6km/h, making slow-speed manoeuvres less of a wrestling match.

Handling gets attention, too. All four models – GT Pro, Rally Pro, GT Explorer and Rally Explorer – now run a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination, with 200mm of suspension travel at both ends. Cast wheels give the GT versions a more road-focused flavour, while the Rally models retain side-laced spoked wheels for a tougher off-road look. SHOWA semi-active suspension, Brembo Stylema brakes and Triumph’s Tri-Link shaft-drive swingarm remain key parts of the package.

The headline comfort upgrade is SHOWA EERA HEIGHTFLEX suspension, which automatically drops the seat by 30mm as you come to a stop, then restores the ride height as you pull away. Add the two-position seat adjustment and optional low seat, and seat height can fall to just 790mm at a standstill. A new Centre Stand Assist function also temporarily increases rear preload to make hauling the big Tiger onto its stand less of a gym session.

Long-distance credentials remain strong, with 20-litre tanks on Pro models and 30-litre capacity for the Explorer variants. Redesigned rider and pillion seats gain thicker foam, while heated seats and three-stage heated grips are standard across the range.

Technology takes a sizeable leap forward. A new 7-inch HD touchscreen brings wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, backed up by a cooled phone compartment with USB-C charging. The new adaptive LED projector headlight adds cornering illumination, while front and rear Bosch radar introduces a comprehensive suite of rider aids. Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Emergency Brake Assist, Blind Spot Assist and Rear Distance Warning are among the features, alongside new systems designed to help maintain safe following distances and assist group riding.

Styling gets a nip and tuck, too, with revised bodywork, a reshaped tank, redesigned beak and windscreen, and a more compact headlight giving the Tiger a sharper face.

The new range is available to order now, with prices starting at £18,295 for the GT Pro, rising to £18,995 for the Rally Pro, £19,795 for the GT Explorer and £20,495 for the Rally Explorer. Dealership arrivals are expected from December 2026.
