Security is a major thing for us bike owners – whether you have a garage or not, it’s a good idea to lock up your machine to prevent undesirables getting their grubby hands on it. This Thatcham insurance-approved lock from Oxford Products is fitted with a 100db alarm to get peoples attention if your bike is being taken by someone it shouldn’t. The lock itself can be used as a disc lock or with a chain – I use mine with a chain as seen in the picture – simply loop the chain through the clip, place the red end of the pin to the red side of the lock, twist the key and the alarm is set.

The pack includes a free minder cable to ensure that if you’ve fitted it as a disc lock, you don’t forget and ride off. It also comes with a replacement battery for the alarm. I’ve had it for a few months now and accidently set the alarm off a few times but the battery is still OK.

It comes with three keys, so I stuck one on my motorcycle key and put the other two in the cupboard safely. But if you’re anything like one of my friends (I won’t name names…) you might be pleased to hear about Oxford’s replacement key service – which is available on this lock. Should you lose one or two of your keys, and can provide one key or a key number and they will replace them for you for a small charge.

Take a look at the catalogue as it can be bought along with a choice of chains too. This version has a 14mm shackle, however the Big Boss Alarm has a 16mm shackle and is priced at £84.99.
