If you thought BMW’s line-up couldn’t get much spicier, think again!
BMW Motorrad has revealed its 2027 model year updates, and while most of its range receives modest revisions, the headline act is undoubtedly the M 1000 RR. BMW’s flagship homologation special gets significant mechanical updates, centred around an all-new chassis developed directly from the firm’s WorldSBK programme. BMW says it delivers substantially improved flex characteristics while shedding around 1.3kg in the process. Wall thickness has been reduced by approximately 30 per cent, allowing engineers to fine-tune rigidity and flexibility more precisely, with the aim of improving grip, front-end feel and overall chassis performance both on road and track.
The M 1000 RR also receives a reshuffle of its equipment packages. Forged M wheels now become standard, while the lighter carbon wheels move to the options list. The old Competition Package has also been dropped in favour of two new specifications. The flagship M Track Package bundles together the M Endurance Chain, Carbon Package, M Billet Package and M Carbon Wheels, while M Track Package II retains everything except the carbon wheels for riders who don’t feel the need to chase every last gram.

Elsewhere, the standard S 1000 RR receives a more modest refresh. A new Edition M Sport arrives in Blackstorm Metallic/M Motorsport colours with a tinted screen and forged M wheels, while the M Package now includes forged wheels as standard, with carbon wheels becoming an optional alternative. A USB charging port is also added to both the Dynamic Package and Edition M Sport. BMW has also introduced the new M Track Package and M Track Package II across the M 1000 R and M 1000 XR, replacing the outgoing Competition Package and bundling together upgrades including the M Laptrigger, carbon components and billet accessories.
Away from the sports bike range, updates are more evolutionary. The S 1000 R gains a USB charging port within its Comfort Package, while the F 900 R now includes BMW’s low-maintenance M Endurance Chain as part of its Comfort Package. The R 1300 R receives new touring-focused options, including factory pannier mounts and a Touring Package featuring case holders, central locking and a centre stand. The R 1300 RS can now also be ordered with factory luggage mounts on the Style Performance model. Finally, BMW’s K 1600 GT and GTL gain fresh Imperial Blue metallic Edition II paint schemes alongside revised trim, wheel options and seating.
