As the just-announced BMW R1200RS, the new RS feature the same 125hp, 92lb-ft motor as seen in the R 1200 GS, RT, and RS, which is claimed to give a more uniform torque delivery throughout the rev range.

The sports-tourer design shares the R 1200 R’s self-supporting engine and new tubular-steel bridge frame, with upside-down forks and an EVO Paralever rear. The resdesigned air intake and central radiator aid the styling of the new fairing , with has an adjustable windshield.

BMW claims the bike has an upright, sporty yet relaxed seating position for a ‘dynamic riding sensation’, and ‘excellent comfort for longer tours’.

ABS and ASC (Automatic Stablility Control) come as standard, with traction control part of a ‘Riding mode Pro’ option.
