Thinking of undertaking the ultimate travel challenge of an adventure by motorcycle? New for 2015 is the Adventure by Motorcycle specialist seminar at the Olympia 2015 Adventure Travel Show. Gain essential guidance from the experts and plan your own expedition!
The Adventure Travel Show boasts an extensive range of specialist travel seminars, and by popular demand is now hosting an ‘Adventure by Motorcycle’ seminar for the very first time. Whilst there is an excellent array of organised adventure travel tours available, more and more people are now planning their own personal overlanding adventures, and especially by motorcycle. This is an excellent and exciting way to experience the world, but it’s also extremely important to prepare correctly for such an amazing adventure – so here’s your chance!
This specialist seminar, taking place at The Adventure Travel Show 2015 at Olympia, is aimed at people who want to gain a better understanding about creating their own adventure by motorcycle, including the challenges and pitfalls that might be encountered and how to best deal with them. How do you prepare for such a trip? What type of bike, equipment and luggage should you take? What route and motorcycling hotspots should you visit? The pros and cons of doing it alone? How do you get the most out of the experience once on the trip? Join renowned and experienced motorcycle experts Austin Vince and Lois Pryce who have years of on ground experience and will offer essential guidance on preparation and logistics to ensure you get the most out of a self-organised motorcycle adventure.
Austin Vince embarked on his first solo overland journey – from London to Delhi – aged 18. He is now one of the most respected overland adventurers, known for his long distance motorcycle expeditions. Formerly a train spotting maths teacher, he’s made his name as the man who created the cult travel show Mondo Enduro and the recreational hitch-hiking TV series Roadside USA. As well as curating the Adventure Travel Film Festival, he masterminds Europe’s leading dirtbike map reading events in the Catalan Pyrenees. His film Mondo Sahara, an all action, Anglo American desert adventure was released in October last year. His aim is to promote and encourage folks to embark on low budget DIY adventures.
After reading Chris Scott’s legendary ‘Adventure Motorcycling Handbook’ at the age of 29, Lois quit her day job, bought a small trail bike and embarked on her first adventure, riding from Alaska to Ushuaia. On her return Lois reached for her map and started planning her next adventure. Since 2003 she has motorcycled from Alaska to Argentina, from London to Cape Town, across the US, Europe and around Iran – all unsponsored and mainly solo. As a successful female adventurer Lois has had many incredible adventures behind her and continues to plan more.
There will be 2 seminar sessions throughout The Adventure Travel Show, each following the same structure – please see www.adventureshow.com for more details. Seminar tickets are £40 in advance and seminars are limited to 15 people per session – so book early to avoid disappointment.
