Mudsling-front-mudguard2

Machineart, designers of specialised accessories and add-ons for BMW motorcycles, have designed an all new MudSling rear mudguard and Avant Front Mudguard Extender for the R1200GS and Adventure LC models.

Although the GS comes with a rear mudguard as standard, some riders find that its surface area doesn’t offer as much protection against mud, stones and water spray flung up by the rear wheel as they would like. Injection moulded in tough polypropylene, to match the 1200’s other plastic part surfaces, the MudSling increases the surface area of the standard guard by up to 75mm each side, and by almost 180mm downwards, offering more protection for the rear shock and paralever arm. The wide design also helps prevent crud being thrown onto the rider’s legs, and keeps the under seat area cleaner. Precision cut to fit the existing guard and frame perfectly, the MudSling requires no drilling and can also be fitted to bikes with lowered suspension. Retail price is £134.00.

The matching Avant Front Mudguard Extender adds an extra 140mm of length and 50mm of width to the GS/Adventure LC’s front mudguard. Specially designed wings on each side give extra lateral coverage for the downpipes and painted engine casing, without adding excess width. It’s also injection moulded in polypropylene, matching the finish of the original. And like the MudSling, requires no drilling to fit. It sells for £49.00.
