Honda’s just filed a new patent for a bit of technology that could have been plucked out of a science fiction film.
The American R&D department of the Japanese factory has been filed a futuristic design with the US patent authorities. It’s a bit of technology which would read your mind and work out what you want to do.
It’s a wild idea and it’s difficult to imagine how it would work. The patent details an interface placed in your helmet, which utilises sensors to pick up the riders thoughts and feed them into a central computer. The patent makes reference to wheelies, stoppies, overtakes, burnouts, skids, accelerating and braking – so it sounds like a pretty comprehensive system.
It’s a mad idea and is likely a long, long way from ever coming to fruition (if ever) – but it’s interesting to hear a manufacturer is even thinking about such a concept.
