Man ropes daughter to bike for school run

This Indian motorcyclist has been arrested after this picture appeared showing him taking his eight-year-old daughter to school, roped to his bike.

The 40-year-old was arrested following the reports in local newspapers in Uttar Pradesh state, the pictures were taken by passers-by.

According to the police, the man – who has two sons and three daughters – works as a security guard at a private school and tried to persuade the girl, his youngest child, to go to school because she had a test. Originally the girl was promised sweets and gifts, but when she refused to go he tied her to the back of his bike and took her to school.

The man spent a day in the cells but still believes he did the right thing.

“My daughter will not die if I take her to school. But she will surely die if she does not study,” he told the Times of India.
