If you know someone who’s not able to get about very easily, but fancies the idea of riding a motorcycle then get them to check out Flatshifter.
Flatshifter is a British company specializing in making gear levers, brake levers and quickshifters for motorcycles and trikes. In fact, anything with a sequential gearbox can get the Flatshifter treatment and be operated by someone with restricted range of movement or mobility.
The list of equipment ranges from thumb brakes to dual levers on the handlebar with a mixture of combinations. So you could have front brake + rear brake, front brake + clutch and rear brake and clutch.
The options were predominantly designed for the race track until company owner Graham Thraxter started fitting them to conventional road vehicles, to let paraplegics and riders who had lost limbs ride motorcycles unassisted.
Graham offers a bespoke service to suit any individual’s needs and his firm is fast becoming a leading light in helping get restricted movement riders on two wheels. Contact Graham on: 01206 322557, firstname.lastname@example.org or see his range in full at disabledmotorcycleriders.com.
