Bayliss was competing in Aussie Senor Track Chmapionship in his home town of Taree, it was the final of the AMA Pro 450 class and the easy-going Aussie lost control of this Ducati Scrambler-based bike whilst chasing Robbie Menzies-Sargant and eventual winner Jarred Brown.

Bayliss broke his collarbone, left thumb, back and a rib in the fall.

In a tweet after the crash, Troy said: “All good, just need little rest, fractured vertebrae, rib, collarbone and thumb. Don’t bother telling me I’m too old!”

All fair enough, but one fellow glory-days competitior had one bit of advice for the injured Aussie. Italian former 125 and 250cc GP world champion Loris Capriossi replied to Bayliss’ tweet, saying: “Maybe it’s the right time to begin to just enjoy life? I’ll see you in Australia!”

Anybody think that Troy the boy will ease off? Nah, us neither.
