When my previous Shark gave up the ghost after five years, I wanted to keep with Shark.  I also wanted something feminine but not too over the top… then at a show my husband spotted the Folie and pointed it out as a joke.  But I loved the graphics!

The helmet itself is an entry-level one. It doesn’t have any flash bits and bobs, it is a simple, basic helmet.  But it does the basics really well.  It is a thermoplastic injected shell, weighing 1450g.  But the weight is balanced and it is comfortable to wear even for long periods.

The venting again is basic, but does the job effectively and can be worked easily even with gloved hands.  The strap does up via a ratchet bayonet clip and features a quick release clip, which again can be worked in gloved hands.

The visor is 2mm with an anti-scratch coating and is ready for a Pinlock insert, though I have never felt the need to fit one.

The big surprise, possibly, is the reaction from other people!  A week does not go by without the Shark receiving a compliment.  If I had a penny for every time someone has said something nice about it, I could have paid for it by now!

So yes, it is a basic, entry level helmet. But it belies it’s budget nature and is by far and away great value for money.
