Three wheel Gold Wing AND MT-09 off-road trike touted by Japanese.

Japanese magazine Young machine has had its crystal ball out and is predicting many futures for the upcoming raft of motorcycle fun including TWO three-wheelers which will definitely cause speculation amongst European riders.

According to the latest issue of the magazine, Yamaha is going to be bringing out the 01 Gen three-wheeler, that was a bike first shown as a concept bike at the 2014 Intermot show in Cologne.

The bike will not be powered entirely by an electric engine as it was with the concept bike, but an MT-09 engine. The funky-looking three-wheeler will keep the off-roadable big suspension though. There’s no indication whether the 01 Gen on the road will also use the belt drive that was shown on the concept bike.

The second bike that the Japanese lads reckon is on its way is a ultra-funky Gold Wing that borrows a lot of styling from some of the recent concept models at shows (a very exposed back end and large single-sided swing arm) and also has two wheels at the front end.

This can be seen as a quite the flight of fancy, but the recent 40th Anniversary Wing from Honda has been widely regarded by Wing fans as something of a disappointment with lots of people saying that the bike is due a pretty radical overhaul to stay current in the modern world.

So what the Japanese title reckons is the immediate future for the venerable Wing might be going a touch too far, but it’s entirely possible that some of the design elements seen in their illustration will end up on the new big Wing.
