Eamonn Holt, Team Leader at Carole Nash in Dublin, said: “What Jonathan accomplished on Sunday is unbelievable. We were glued to our screens with our fingers firmly crossed until he finished Race One! It had been a long time since a rider from these shores last won a world title, but we have a feeling there’s a few more to come from Jonathan, he’s got so much talent.

“We’re all very happy for him and his family. Not only is he a formidable competitor on a bike, he’s also an extremely kind and humble guy, and we’re proud to count him as a longstanding friend of ours.”
