The event is one of the world’s most extreme and demanding cross country competitions. Currently about to get going for the 37th time, the race will be held from 3rd January to 16th January 2016 in South America. It starts in Buenos Aires and finishes in Rosario.

It covers a distance of over 9,000km, half of which will be running against the clock, courtesy the 13 competitive stages in the rally.
From 2016, no outside mechanical assistance would be provided during the two marathon stages making the rally even tougher for the already exhausted riders and drivers. The highest point of the Dakar rally in South America this year will be in Bolivia where the competitors will race at an altitude of over 15,000 feet.
