Honda is recalling 1,825 VFR1200F bikes for repair to a faulty universal joint in the driveshaft assembly.
The announcement so far only effects American bikes (a total at the moment of 1,825 models).
Honda says that because of the defect, the driveshaft’s universal joint bearings may prematurely wear which could cause the universal joint to separate or break. There is currently no information about this issue effecting other bikes in the range that may share parts with the VFR, like the Crosstourer.
American VFR1200F owners will be contacted soon and the work will be carried out at a local dealer free of charge. Although the recall message is going out now, it appears that there may be a couple of weeks wait for the necessary parts to be available.
