TT 2016: Hutchy expresses worry over melting road surfaces

In an almost missed comment during the post-race Superstock press conference, 13-times TT winner Ian Hutchinson let slip something that’s clearly on his mind – the surface of the famous Mountain Course.

When told that on a flying lap from Glen Helen to Glen Helen he’d clocked a best of 133.138mph (for a time of 16m 58.259s) and then asked if there was more to come in terms of speed and time in the remaining big bike race, The Senior, this Friday, he said: “There’s always more to come.

“But now the biggest worry is the melting Tarmac.”

Temperatures on The Island and weather conditions have been nearly perfect so far for the majority of Practice Week and all the races that have happened in Race Week at the time of writing. But those soaring temperatures well into the mid-20s may well be having an adverse effect of sections of the course if Hutchinson’s comment is anything to go by.
