Suzuki will mark four decades of the iconic GSX-R line with a major celebration at Motorcycle Live 2025, including a dedicated heritage display, exclusive VIP event, and the first UK look at the new GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Edition.
A legacy that changed motorcycling
When the original GSX-R750F launched in 1985, it transformed the sportsbike world — bringing genuine race performance to the road for the first time. That model laid the foundation for everything that followed, right through to the 2026 GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Edition, revealed earlier this year.
At Motorcycle Live 2025, Suzuki will showcase a dedicated GSX-R display featuring standout machines spanning the decades. On show will be an original 1985 GSX-R750, a GSX-R750 SRAD, and the revered K5 GSX-R1000, among others — all representing key milestones in one of the most significant lineages in motorcycling history.

Exclusive VIP event
To launch the celebrations, Suzuki will host a special VIP event on the morning of Saturday 15 November, the opening day of Motorcycle Live.
The event will take place an hour before the show opens to the public, held on the Suzuki stand in Hall 3A, stand 3D25.
Attendance is by invitation only and open to customers who have placed a deposit on the 2026 GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Edition.
The event will be hosted by Grace Webb and will include:
- Insight into the new GSX-R from Paul de Lusignan, Suzuki GB’s Director of Motorcycles
- Interviews with Dan Linfoot, 2024 Endurance World Champion and 2025 Bol d’Or winner with the Yoshimura Suzuki Endurance Team
- Conversation with John Reynolds, 2004 British Superbike Champion and former GSX-R test rider
VIP guests will receive an exclusive goody bag, meet the riders and the Suzuki GB team, and get a first look at the GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Edition in the metal before anyone else in the UK.
Four decades of evolution
The GSX-R story is one of relentless innovation and racing success:
- 1985 GSX-R750F: lightweight aluminium frame and oil-cooled four-cylinder engine brought race performance to the road.
- 1986 GSX-R1100: big-bore powerhouse that set a new superbike benchmark.
- 1996 GSX-R750 SRAD: based on Kevin Schwantz’s RGV500 GP bike, introducing a twin-spar aluminium frame and compact high-revving motor.
- 1997 GSX-R600: lightweight agility combined with the brand’s signature power delivery.
- 2001 GSX-R1000: raised the superbike bar again with a game-changing power-to-weight ratio, instantly successful in British Superstock.
- 2005 K5 GSX-R1000: became an icon after winning the World Superbike Championship with Troy Corser.
- 2011 GSX-R600 and 750: praised for balance and refinement, with Alastair Seeley taking the British Supersport title.
- 2017 GSX-R1000R (L7): MotoGP-derived variable valve timing and cutting-edge electronics delivered new performance levels, winning the Senior TT with Michael Dunlop.

Endurance dominance
The GSX-R1000’s reputation for performance and reliability is unmatched in endurance racing.
It has claimed 15 Endurance World Championship titles, the latest in 2024, and Suzuki is aiming for a 16th crown in 2026.
Looking ahead
Suzuki GB Marketing Manager Jak Tyrrell commented:
“No other range of motorcycles has moved the game on in the way that GSX-R has over the last four decades, or played such a big part in the motorcycling journey of so many riders. Forty years is an incredible milestone, and we’re excited to celebrate it at Motorcycle Live, talk with GSX-R owners past and present, and look ahead to the arrival of the Anniversary Edition next year.”
The GSX-R1000R 40th Anniversary Edition goes on sale in the UK in spring 2026.
