Canada Motor Guide has reported that VerticalScope, the owner and operator of several motorcycle forums and the Motorcycle.com website, has been hacked, with customer information stolen.
VerticalScope is the company behind several bike forums, such as GoldWingOwners.com, SVRider.com, K1600Forum.com, Gixxer.com, etc. For the full list of sites, click here.
Apparently the company was hacked back in February, and the data of millions of users was stolen.
VerticalScope believes the data breach was limited to user names, user IDs, email addresses, IP addresses, and encrypted passwords. That basically means that if you were a member of one of these forums but weren’t using the same password to log on to other online services, it might not be a big deal. VerticalScope has said they are making changes to their password restrictions on their forums, to ensure users’ data is kept secure in the future.
