MotoGP: Andrea Iannone crashes out of the session, destroys factory Suzuki which then hits barrier so hard that the barrier needed rebuilding.
The bad news for Suzuki MotoGP continues with a second crash today at the second day of testing in Valencia.
The squad’s Alex Rins has already fallen and had to be taken to hospital for CAT scans on his lower back after complaining of pain following what’s described as a ‘heavy fall’ and now Andrea Iannone has stacked it – at Turn 12 which is the same turn as Rins crashed at earlier on.
Onlookers says that Iannone has virtually destroyed his bike in the crash which appears to show the front end of the bike washing out instantly as Iannone touches the front brake, the bike still upright. The force of the impact of the Suzuki into the crash barrier was so major that parts of the bike were scattered across the circuit and the red flag had to be brought out to stop the session whilst a clean up crew could gather bike bits and repair the barrier itself – the delay lasted for a full 90 minutes, such was the severity and speed of the impact.
Both of today’s crashes happened at the same point where Sam Lowes fell from the factory Aprilia yesterday, his spill left Sam with some neck pain which has meant he’s not out on the bike today.
