A Ducati Hypermotard 821 that was used in the 2017 feature length remake of the iconic TV series CHiPs is up for auction.

We love the original TV series CHiPs, which ran on British screens (and lighted up our Saturday tea times) from 1977 to 1983, focusing on the Kawasaki-mounted adventures of two Californian policeman; Jon Baker and Frank ‘Ponch’ Poncherello. So, you can imagine we’re getting very excited about next week’s release of the 2017 full length feature film.

In the remake, which comes to UK cinemas on March 24, ‘Ponch and Jon’ have to swap their slower, heavier patrol bikes for something with a pit more punch to keep up with the bad guys – and they opted for the a couple of pretty sweet Ducati Hypermotard 821’s.

But filming is all finished, and one of the bikes used in the actual film – complete with working sirens, lights and a full Termignoni exhaust kit – is going under the hammer!

The 110-horsepower Hypermotard is being auctioned off to support the charity PATH which works to end homelessness for individuals and families in California. It has been signed by the film’s stars Dax Shepard and John Pena, having only done a couple of hundred miles in it’s life. There’s some minor cosmetic wear and tear – but that just gives it a more authentic Californian Cop feel!

The auction was up to around $10,000  last time we checked (just over £8000), which doesn’t seem like a bad price for a really cool bit of film memorabilia (and a pretty awesome bike too). There’s still a few days to go though, so if you’re interested, you’ll have to keep a close eye on it.
