This CAD/CAM image of the new three-cylinder engine that will power the upcoming 1200 Benelli tourer has appeared in Australia on the AMCN site.
Reports claim that this motor has been filed in China by the QianJiang group – which owns Benelli. The same outlet claims that the new motor will likely be used in two motorcycles; a large touring-style bike and a big capacity Adventure motorcycle.
The new motor is likely to transfer the power to the back wheel via a shaft-drive too. On the engine the crankcases, cylinders and cylinder head are all new casts and the engine, which is a derivative of the old Tornado Tre 900cc lump, does still have a balancer shaft mounted ahead of the crankshaft.
