With this year’s Isle of Man Classic TT fast approaching, here’s some on-board action from Michael Dunlop and his Suzuki XR69 during the 2016 Superbike race.
For the uninitiated, the Classic TT is held on the Isle of Man at the end of August, celebrating the iconic machines of the past – and over the last few years, Michael Dunlop has dominated the standings.
Michael and his brother William both ride replica Suzuki XR69’s from the early 1980s, based on the bikes that originally competed in the F1 category (now know as WSBK). The bikes have been replicated and updated with the help of the Suzuki Vintage Parts Programme – the current incarnations feature a T45 steel tubular chassis that encloses a GSX-R1100 (up to 1216cc and with about 160-170bhp) engine and a hand-built swingarm from Pro Drive for Team Classic Suzuki. They also feature K-Tech suspension and magnesium Dymag CH3 wheels and Dunlop D212GP Pro tyres.
