Ducati’s Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine unveiled!

Ducati has unveiled its new Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine, the road-going version of its MotoGP power plant – in preparation for Ducati’s soon-to-be-unveiled superbike, the Ducati Panigale V4.

Shown today in Misano, ahead of this weekend’s San Marino GP, we finally know a little bit more about the hotly anticipated Desmosedici Stradale engine. The stats sound promising, with 210hp at 13,000 rpm and 119Nm of torque at 12,250 rpm on offer.

The key specs are as follows:

– 1,103cc
– Claimed 210bhp+ at 13,000rpm
– Claimed 120Nm+ of torque between 8,750rpm – 12,250rpm
– 81 x 53.5 – bore x stroke
– Counter-rotating crank
– 70-degree crank-pin offset / ‘Twin-Pulse’ firing order
– 52mm throttle bodies with varible-height intake ‘horns

– Up/down DQS quick-shifter

Also, the engine weighs in just under 65kg, 2kg more than the current (outgoing) 1,285cc Superquadro v-twin. Its engine casings are made from die-cast aluminium, while the cylinder sleeves are Nikasil-coated aluminium and the engine covers are die-cast magnesium – helping to keep weight down.

 Impressively, the Desmosedici Stradale engine maintains a 15,000-mile service interval, despite being one of most powerful racing-inspired superbike engines in the Italian brands history. Now we’ve just got to be patient, while we wait for its new V4 machine to be unveiled.
