Umm… what do you make of this then? This is the T-Cruiser from Italian firm Tacita – it’s an electric cruiser that, it’s claimed can do 270 km (167 miles) on a single charge.

The looks are likely to polarize the market though – but this isn’t a concept bike, you can buy a T-Cruiser right now. Coming in three power versions; the 7.5kWh costs 9,263 Euros, the 15kWh is 12,636 Euros and the top-of-the-range 27kWh sells for 21,054 Euros.

There’s another, reportedly more sporty version of the T-Cruiser on the way, too. It’ll make it’s debut at the EICMA show in Italy during early November.

The batteries in the bike are from Li-Po and have a five-year guarantee – they come with a life of 2,000 cycles which equates to around 540,000km for the largest T-Cruiser model. That’s a lot of km…

The front has a 41mm front fork that is adjustable preload only (there is an after sales option for a gas-filled front fork option). The tyres are Metzeler Marathon (120/80-17 for the front and 140/80-15  on the rear). There’s a  Brembo caliper gripping a 280mm front disc and a 240mm rear. the brakes are wired into the charging system in order to be able to recover energy each time you hit a lever. The footrests can be mounted on the bike in three different positions.
