Following on from Wednesday evening’s horrific crash that claimed Dan Kneen’s life and the subsequent collision between Honda man Steve Marcer and a course car that was en route to attend to the incident with Kneen, there’s been an update on Steve’s condition.

Mercer was airlifted to Nobles Hospital on the Island immediately after the crash and was quickly transferred to Liverpool for ongoing critical care attention.

His wife Caroline revealed in a statement on Thursday that Mercer has suffered a broken heel, T12 vertebrae, a fracture to his larynx, as well as neck damage, and was unable to breathe unaided.

In a second update on Saturday, she added: “Steve is still in critical care and will be for a while yet. He’s still unable to fully breathe for himself, however the doctors are hopeful he may be able to try soon.”
