Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) was the fastest man in the first qualifying session at the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya, setting a quickest time of 1:39.217 to finish ahead of fellow Honda rider Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) – the Japanese rider making it into Q2 for the first time.
Xavier Simeon (Reale Avintia Racing), Alvaro Bautista (Angel Nieto Team) and Mika Kallio (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) crashed – all the listed riders are ok.
