Kawasaki has just unveiled its latest range of Ninja ZX-10R machines, and for 2019 the trio of models will all receive a range of updates, including greater power, a more generous power band and a torque increase.

Based on the KRT race machine that has so far amassed three consecutive WorldSBK Championships, the Ninja ZX-10R gets a boost to its already impressive engine performance. In fact, peak horsepower is now up to 200bhp (203PS) – and best of all, you can even squeeze a little bit more with the addition of a full race exhaust.

One of the main updates is the addition of a new valve train. Designed by Kawasaki’s MotoGP/WorldSBK engineers, the new valve train is an example of the top-level racing technology brought to the Ninja ZX-10R. The new system contributes to increased performance as well as greater reliability during high-rpm operation. Compared to tappet-style valves, finger-follower valve actuation offers a 20% mass reduction in the valve system. It also enables the adoption of more aggressive cam profiles contributing to an approximate 3PS peak power increase whilst DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) on the finger followers protects against wear.

That’s not all, for 2019, all Ninja ZX-10R models will also come equipped with the same cylinder head (ready for high lift cams) that was first introduced on the Ninja ZX-10RR. To denote this change, all models feature a red painted cylinder head cover.

Now onto the ZX-10RR. The 2019 model features a range of technical upgrades, including the adoption of exclusive lightweight titanium connecting rods which save over 400g in weight compared to the standard rod set (decreasing the crankshaft moment of inertia by 5%) while also increasing the rev limit by 600rpm – subsequently increasing the ZX-10RR’s power to 201bhp (204PS) without Ram-Air. Additionally front and rear suspension settings have been revised to take into account the reduction in crankshaft inertia. Production is limited to 500 numbered units worldwide, so if you want to get your hands on the latest Ninja ZX-10RR, you’ll need to act fast.

Finally, the ZX-10R SE model will also receive updates, including Kawasaki’s new Highly Durable Paint on surfaces that are susceptible to wear and scuffing process. Plus, Kawasaki has decided that all three models will receive KQS dual direction quick-shifter for 2019.
