Championship leader set the pace ahead of fellow HRC rider but suffered a late fall at Turn 9
Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) topped the final Free Practice of the weekend at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan, setting the fastest time of 1:45.531 to beat Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda Castrol) by 0.310, with Team Suzuki Ecstar’s Andrea Iannone third in FP4 – 0.420 from the Spaniards time.
However, it wasn’t the end to the session the number 93 would have hoped for after he suffered a crash at Turn 9 ahead of Q2 – rider ok. This morning’s pacesetter Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) was fourth fastest in FP4, with fellow GP18 rider Danilo Petrucci (Alma Pramac Racing) completing the top five.
Yamaha test rider and Japanese wildcard Katsuyuki Nakasuga (Yamalube Yamaha Factory Racing) and Alvaro Bautista (Angel Nieto Team) both crashed at Turn 5 during the 30-minute session – riders ok.
