Rumours abound right now that our favourite Austrian firm could be about to slot the 790 motor from the Duke (and/or Adventure) into the RC chassis and make a cracking new mid-weight superbike.
The lovely image (above) was put together by the Indian Autos Blog website. It’s a nice image, it looks real, it look funky. It’s made a lot of KTM fans happy and it’s probably made a lot of people who weren’t KTM fans, KTM fans.
But what’s tickled our fancy is this post (above) by KTM’s Luke Brackenbury, the company’s PR Manager for the street bikes, asking the question, ‘Should we?’. Luke is a good friend of ours and one of the best people in the industry. KTM is often open and in conversation with customers about what they want and what direction the factory might go down next. So Luke could just be using this CG illustration to gauge a bit of public reaction… or he might just be teasing us by asking the question. It might just be a bit of fun. It’s intriguing though…
Either way, the answer’s got to be yes. Yes to KTM. Yes to Luke B. Make the damn thing. It looks very cool. Better yet, let’s have it with the 1290 Super Duke motor in it. Full-on superbike the RC line.
