Ducati’s CEO Claudio Domenicali has been speaking about the possibility of Ducati making the move into Moto3 – and although he sees the value, he’s said it’s not going to happen too soon.

It’s well documented that Ducati race manager Gigi Dall’Igna has expressed a desire to expand the Ducati Racing project to include Moto3. He reckons that it would help Ducati to grow and develop young talent – but at this stage, it seems that Ducati’s not quite ready to commit .

Speaking to Motociclismo.it, Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali said: “I know Gigi’s thinking about Moto3 and I wonder if he would be willing to finance the project with his salary. Seriously, Ducati’s entry into Moto3 is not a priority now, but not even a meaningless project. Entering the lower class would lead us to have a more complete formation in the World Cup and perhaps the time will come when we will do it. However, now we are not developing this project and you will not see a Ducati Moto3 even in 2020. In our current plans there are no small engines, but we do not exclude them for the future “.
