Whilst our band of snappers were out getting the Triumph Daytona 765 Moto2-on-the-road bike in Spain, they also bagged this – a new Thruxton model for the British range that’s been given the Triumph black treatment.

In terms of the actual bike, the Thruxton Black looks pretty much the same as the current £12,400 Thruxton 1200 R that’s part of the 2019 model range. So why the measuring equipment on the back of the bike in the photos?

Couple of reasons that could be why this motorcycle is carrying the equipment-laden data-gathering top box; 1 – because it was being used as the marker for other bikes on test alongside it or 2 – there’s some actual changes internally to the bike that we’re not aware of.
Time will tell, of course, but for now what we have here is a Thruxton Black which – let’s face it – looks pretty cool and just a little bit mean. Gone are the gold forks, everything is painted black just like Triumph did previously with the T120 Bonneville.

The Thruxton Black be unveiled by the factory later this year and will make up part of the 2020 model year range.
