Ducati's race boss Gigi Dall'Igna has confirmed a new Ducati race bike will be testing at Valencia.

Ahead of this weekend’s Japanese GP at Motegi, Gigi Dall’Igna sat down with MotoGP.com to talk about this seasons successes, and what’s coming in the future from the Italian factories race team. And the big news is that Ducati’s going to bring a new Desmosedici GP race bike to the Valencia test.

Here’s what Gigi Dall’Igna said: “We are satisfied with the work done this season, the bike has improved a lot. On the other hand, we are also dissatisfied and we must see that we have not improved enough to win the World Cup. This makes us think of having to do something more for 2020.

“I think we need to improve the bike in some areas and among these is the combination of ‘spoon’ and swingarm. Many Houses are working on this aspect. Among the positive things of the 2019 season is the system that allows for better departures: we studied it last winter and it gave us satisfactions in terms of performance because the pilots exploited it. Even the aerodynamics and the chassis must be developed again, but we are on the right track thanks to the steps taken.

Here's Andrea Dovizioso out on the current 2020 Ducati MotoGP race machine.

“Despite the world championship being in the hands of Marquez, Ducati aims to win as a manufacturer. We are also trying to produce new parts to use in the last races; they will be only tests, but useful to better understand the functioning of the components.

In view of Valencia, of the tests, we are preparing a completely new and better bike from the point of view of cornering speed, an area certainly to be improved on the Desmosedici. Developing the 2020 bike will not be easy because we have little time to do it, but we are confident that we can work better before the next championship starts.”
