The French rookie was over six-tenths of a second clear of anybody else as Iannone put two Aprilias in Q2

Petronas Yamaha SRT’s Fabio Quartararo got his pole position charge off to the best possible start by topping Q1 at the Pramac Generac Australian Grand Prix by over six-tenths of a second. The rookie sensation just a tenth shy of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP’s Maverick Viñales’ fastest lap of the weekend.

He will be joined in Q2 by Aprilia Racing Team Gresini’s Andrea Iannone who benefitted massively from tucking in behind Quartararo for his fastest lap. Team Suzuki Ecstar’s Joan Mir and LCR Honda Idemitsu’s Johann Zarco the unfortunate riders to miss out and consequently will line-up thirteenth and fourteenth on the grid later today.
