Alpinestars has just released the data from Marc Marquez’s TechAir suit, following his massive off during qualifying at the Malaysian GP. And it offers a fascinating insight into just how important airbag suits are for keeping top level racers safe.

The Alpinestars data graphic shows us that Marquez’s Tech-Air device activated 855ms (0.855 seconds) before the Spaniard first made an impact with the ground.
The data also indicates that Marquez was airborne for just under a second before his first impact with the ground – which registered over 20g. G-force was measured at 26.27g at its highest.

Thankfully, Marquez escaped injury-free – and he went on to put in a stunning ride to end up finishing second in the MotoGP race the following day.
