YESSS! The french are making these PEANUT roundabouts instead of crossroads. Instant little racetrack, anyone?

This is a 'Peanut' roundabout in France. Note the great Tarmac, the great corners, the handy 'pitlane' to the left. It's like a more simple Mallory (aside from the cars)

Look at this and tell us that you aren’t thinking the same thing. It’s even got a pitlane (to the left) with handy parking spots for a bit of spanner-twirling when you’re not out on a lap.

OK, we’re getting carried away – but come on, these might be the latest idea for easing up traffic flow instead of a stop/start crossroads but it’s basically four perfect corners with a fast flip/flop on the longer straights.

Awesome.

Currently, the first ‘Peanut’ is in Nozay (Loire Atlantique) between Nantes and Rennes and in Montargis too.

Fancy one of these in the UK? Yeah, us too.
