Royal Enfield’s single cylinder 500 will be DISCONTINUED. Euro 5 regulations end production of iconic engine.

Royal Enfield’s 499cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine has had a long and illustrious history. Of course, it’s been consistently tweaked and updated to stay relevant – but time’s about up for the iconic engine, as a result of the challenges presented by upcoming Euro 5 regulations.

In India, most of Royal Enfield’s 500 variants have already been discontinued – but in Europe we’ve got until the end of this summer to snap up one of the final few machines. And to celebrate its success over the years, the Indian factory is set to release a limited edition machine built around its long standing single.

At this stage, that’s about as much as we know – but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for some decent deals on the simple, stripped-back singles later this year.
